My Final Year of Elementary School
Hello everyone and welcome back. This past year has been tough on all of us whether it’s going back to fifth grade or back in person to work. Me, for example, had to go back to school after two years of online learning and my eyes being glued to the screen. I was so joyous with the fact that my school was going back in person for my final year of elementary school.
Today you all get to go on a journey with me through my 5th grade year at Clara Barton Elementary. While going through many ups and downs our teacher still put in the best effort, she could to help us succeed. The year started off like a normal one but with us wearing masks. Everybody’s voices in discussions were muffled and we could barely hear what we each of us were saying. That’s when, right in the middle of the school year the CDC decided to discontinue the mask mandate. From then on, everything went smoothly, and us 5th graders got to go on 5th grade camp to Camp Seymour. While it was connecting with friends that you didn’t know , or doing activities with your chaperones that you didn’t know it was possible to do it was a great experience for everyone.
Things were going great and Safety patrol started at the end of December. All fourth and 5th graders got to go and participate to help students be safer while going and coming to school. With all the fun things that we got to do, all of us enjoyed spending time with each other.
We all had a great rest of the school year with all the fun events hosted by the PTSA. Everyone had so much fun. But when it came time to end the year, I just had to BREAK MY FOOT. While everyone was out having fun, I was sitting on the bench elevating my foot and chatting with my friends. With my fifth-grade promotion just around the corner I was so saddened by the fact that I had to walk down the hallway in a medical boot. Thankfully I had such a great teacher and family who took great care of me I got to graduate fifth grade walking but with a broken foot.
My friends and I were so excited and celebrated with ice cream at the end of the day. If there is one thing, I learned this past year it's that you can graduate fifth grade and elementary school with enjoying every moment of it!
